Donations Brighten Christmas For 567 Individuals
"They were THRILLED! Mom was in tears as we left, she could not thank us enough. She and the girls were so excited. It truly made me and the social worker from our school cry...I thank WYSS, as well as people who are willing to sponsor families who they do not know or ever even get to meet, it is truly at the heart of what true giving (of Christmas) is about!"
This 2009 Holiday season was filled with the spirit of generosity. Even during these difficult economic times, donations poured in from the community; hundreds of toys, monetary donations, whole families adopted by local businesses; even 80 hams!! Below are just a few of the special moments captured with pictures during Christmastime at WYSS.
The Employees of Crystal Rock in Watertown donated a check for $500.00 to Santa's Toy Fund in lieu of purchasing a gift for the Presidents of Crystal Rock, Jack and Peter Baker.
Lisa from Bentley Systems, Inc. of Watertown dropped off beautifully wrapped gifts for the 6 families they adopted through our Adopt-A-Family for Christmas Program.
WYSS Board President Sam Beamon and other members of the Brass City Memorial Detachment of the Marine Corps League dropped off 9 huge bags of toys for our youth.
Ray Brown, a strong supporter of WYSS is aided by some of Santa’s helpers to bring in the Christmas gifts for his Adopt-A-Family.
An employee from Webster Bank in Cheshire and a student from CCSU donated their time to be Santa’s helpers for a day and wrapped many of the gifts donated by the community.
