DIRECTIONS

From Hartford:

Take 84 west to Waterbury; take exit 22-Union Street; at the light at the end of ramp take a left; stay in left lane, go straight through next 4 traffic lights and at the third traffic light take a right onto South Main Street; continue straight through 3 traffic lights; WYSS is the first building on the left.

 

From Fairfield Area:

Take Route 8 North to 84 East; take exit 22 Downtown/Bank Street (2nd exit once you’re on 84, comes up fast); go through light at end of exit ramp; at next light take a left; go straight through 3 traffic lights (Waterbury Green will be on your left); WYSS is first building on your left. *Parking available in Municipal metered lot right past our building (bring quarters, they do ticket!) or ramp garage immediately past that.

SOCIAL WORKERS

WYSS has two openings for Social Workers; One full time (40 hours) and one part time (20 hours) for our Safe Home, a residential home for referred children ages 6-13.

 

Responsibilities: Provision of a wide range of behavioral and clinical interventions, assessments, individual treatment plans, oversight of the provision of in service trainings, assist in stabilizing children and build skills needed to transition into a family setting. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and must be available for on-call and holidays.

 

Qualifications: Master’s in Social Work, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy. Must hold a current Connecticut license in Clinical Social Work, Professional Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history. Must successfully be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Train the trainer and certified in CPR, First Aid and medication administration.

 

 

DIRECT CARE POSITIONS

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has openings for all shifts, full-time, part-time and per diem positions for Direct Care Staff for our Safe Home program. Our Safe Home/Rainbow House is a short-term residential home for abused and/or neglected children ages 6 -13 placed by Department of Children and Families.

 

Responsibilities: Direct Care Staff are responsible for the daily supervision, teaching and care of the 12 children in residence.

 

Qualifications: Ideal candidates must meet the physical demands of the position; must be able to bend, sit, and stand for periods of time; manage stairs; run/walk quickly after a child; must be able to lift 50 pounds; have a minimum of two years experience working with children with emotional, social and/or behavioral issues; flexibility with work schedule. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Medication Administration Certified, CPR/ First Aid and bilingual a plus. Must pass DCF and Police checks, have clean driving record and insurance.
