PeaceJam Waterbury

WYSS SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) registered as a chapter of PeaceJam; they are calling their project group PeaceJam Waterbury. Other youth from ASPIRA, Crosby High School Key Club, WOW/NRZ Youth Council and WYSS WIA Program have joined them in their "Global Call to Action Project": to Reduce Homelessness in Waterbury.

Learning Goals
  • Respect and understand that all people are members of a community
  • A homeless person is not invisible...speak to them
  • Homeless people are just like us, they just don't have a place to live...anyone of us could be homeless some day


Service Goals
  • To provide: cleaning items; hygiene items & gift cards
  • To provide for people living outside: socks; water & bug spray.

Group at PeaceJam Conference

Nine youth from PeaceJam Waterbury attended the Northeast PeaceJam Conference at the University of Hartford on March 27th & 28th. The group presented their project and had the privilege to meet with Nobel Peace Laureate - Adolfo Pérez Esquivel from Argentina.
