About The Program
Summer Youth Employment Program is a six week program funded by the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board which provides youth aged 14-21 with part-time jobs during their summer vacation. During this time, youth work 20 hours per week earning minimum wage. The goals of the Summer Youth Employment Program are to encourage the development of job skills, provide real-life work experience, and help build the resumes of our young people.
Youth may be placed in a variety of job fields. Youth may work as office assistants, youth group facilitators, maintenance help, assistant travel agents, youth advocates, junior camp counselors, and more.
How To Apply
Applications for the Summer Youth Employment Program are typically available sometime in mid April. Applications can be picked up at school guidance offices and Waterbury Youth Services, or downloaded at nrwib.org. Applications must be completed and submitted to the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board located in the American Job Center, 249 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06702.

Waterbury Youth Services partners with local business and non-profit agencies who are willing to provide meaningful and constructive work experiences for youth throughout the summer months of July and August. There is no cost to the employer; we provide an hourly wage to the youth, along with weekly supervision and monitoring.
